 Thousands of Jobs Available at Career Expo Despite Triangle's Tight Labor MarketRALEIGH, N.C. - July 30, 2018 - PRLog -- With over 60 employers already signed on to fill over 4000 jobs, Capital Area Workforce Development is hosting the WRAL Capital Area Career Expo on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 10 am to 2 pm at the McKimmon Center.
"Although the most recent jobs data shows extremely low unemployment around 3%, that's still 22, 000 people without jobs. There's tremendous opportunity in industries like construction and healthcare because they are finding it harder to fill vacancies. So we're not surprised that those will be well-represented again this year," said Pat Sturdivant, Executive Director of Capital Area Workforce Development Board. The region's healthcare industry is projected to grow over 14,000 jobs in the next five years, and 3700 construction jobs. Ten employers are looking to fill jobs in construction and skilled trades, including presenting sponsor Fred Smith Company and City of Raleigh. WakeMed and Duke are among nine employers trying to fill healthcare jobs. "In addition to industries with huge worker shortages, there are a variety of employers for job seekers to meet and they have all kinds of positions. Job fairs are opportunities to network with recruiters so they can put a face to the resume. It's also a great place for anyone considering a career change to talk to companies about their skills and what they may need to transition," Admission is free for job seekers.
