![]() Group .BR's Saravá! Wild Carnival to Be Official Wrap Party of Brasil SummerfestSarava! Wild Carnival is the signature event of Group .BR that celebrates Brazilian dance, music, visual art, and performances inspired by its upcoming production of Inside the Wild Heart.
By: Group .BR, Debora Balardini The event series name, Saravá!, is a mantra that translates to the force that moves nature and is present in the Afro-Brazilian religions of Umbanda and Candomblé. The strength, movement, and nature themes converge at Saravá! Wild Party through immersive theater and culturally focused art installations, live musical performances by Maracatu NY and Batalá New York, and top contemporary DJs flown in from Brazil to include Eduardo Brechó, Patrictør4, Tutu Moraes, and DJ Tahira, all of which will celebrate the often overlooked diversity of Brazil and the closing of Brasil Summerfest 2018. Suggested event attire embraces celebratory freedom synonymous with theater and Brazilian carnival, including masks, unique costumes, and festive, daring, or glamorous garb. Andressa Furletti, the co-founder and artistic director of Group .BR who created the concept of the Saravá! series, comments on partner synergy: "I am a big fan of [the Brasil Summerfest] programming and mission, which aligns with ours. They always had a great selection of established and emerging artists from the Brazilian musical scene. It's great to be part of such a prestigious festival. "We chose [House of Yes] because they have a theatrical approach to their parties and because we believe their crowd will enjoy the experience we are creating." House of Yes is known for holistically fostering consent and inclusion for its creative community within its "weird is wonderful" philosophy and approach to expression, performance, and lifestyle. Debora Balardini, the co-founder and executive director of Group .BR, comments on the origin of this year's Saravá! theme: "Clarice Lispector, the muse of Inside the Wild Heart, our upcoming immersive theatrical performance, spent her childhood in Pernambuco, which inspired the theme of this year's Saravá! As an artist and advocate for the arts, I am really proud to co-produce and perform in Saravá! Wild Carnival, a continuance of our work to increase cultural awareness about Brazil." In the days leading up to Saravá! Wild Carnival as an extension of Group .BR's mission to amplify cultural awareness, the non-profit will offer a free dance workshop to prepare Saravá! Wild Carnival guests for the Brazilian rhythms they will experience at the event, such as ciranda, coco, frevo, and samba. Group .BR will also offer a mask-making workshop to supporters who contributed to their recent Inside the Wild Heart Kickstarter campaign and who will attend Saravá! Wild Carnival. Saravá! Wild Carnival sponsors include Avianca Airlines and Leblon Cachaça. Half of the proceeds of Saravá! Wild Carnival will fund Inside the Wild Heart. Tickets to Saravá!
