Although it is widely known that he served for 10 years as Bullhead City Justice of the Peace, presiding over a variety of various criminal and civil cases, one of the details in Mayor Brady's past that is largely unknown is the fact that he was a certified law enforcement officer himself. A decorated Viet Nam military veteran who was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with 1^st Oak Leaf Cluster for Meritorious Achievement along with other commendations, Mayor Brady graduated from the Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy with full police powers in 1983 before accepting the position of Mohave County Parks Director, and oversaw a small police force of police-certified park rangers during his nearly two decades running the county's three large parks and campgrounds.

A Bullhead City resident since 1982, Brady worked for Mohave County for 19 years, retiring in 2001 from the position of Parks Director. Subsequently, he served as elected Justice of the Peace in the Bullhead City Justice Court for 10 years, retiring from the bench in 2011. He was elected Bullhead City Mayor in 2014.
