Summer Soups Chilled in Southern Oregon

MEDFORD, Ore. - July 19, 2018 - PRLog -- Chilled soups can provide a cooling respite from summer's hot and humid weather. Chilly soups can make a great start to a light meal or serve as a main course when paired with a fresh salad and bread.  Southern Oregonians cool off in the sweltering summer heat with a chilled soup or gazpacho from Spoons in Medford and Central Point, Oregon.

Spoons offers customers thirty different soups, in a two-week rotation, throughout the winter months. In the summer, five lively chilled soups are added to the mix. A typical lunch includes: a soup-of-the-day paired with a unique and beautifully constructed salad; one of several homemade gluten-free breads; a couple of "noshes," and the option to add a really big, "pounder potato," filled with Vegan or non-Vegan toppings.  The menu changes from day-to-day.  Daily menus for both locations are posted on the restaurant's Facebook pages.

Spoons specializes in fresh, local, non-GMO dishes.  Daily Vegan and non-Vegan soups, salads that are unique to them, gluten-free breads and noshes that are sometimes hard to find; as well as a number of meat-based dishes and sides like some of the incredible hearty meat stews and "pounder potatoes."

"By organizing our soup and salad rotations, we offer diners a wide-variety of choices, flavors, and pairings prioritizing the freshest and ripest ingredients available on any given day," says Bechtold.  "We also get a little playful with the seasons, our noshes, and our 'pounder potatoes,' while reducing waste." Spoons, she explains, "is palate- and earth-friendly."

Saturday soups change depending upon what's left in the fridge.  Chef, Merrie Bechtold, creates a new menu every Saturday at the Central Point location.  Chilled soups are served individually or with an entrée.  Spoons is open from 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday-through-Friday - or, until the soup is gone.  Central Point location is also opened from noon to 4:00 pm on Saturdays and offers entrees, casseroles, desserts and other nutritional fare.
