Keynote Speaker for the 2019 NPA Annual Conference Announced

ROCKVILLE, Md. - July 24, 2018 - PRLog -- The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) is pleased to announce that Bahija Jallal, Ph.D., has been confirmed as keynote speaker at 2019 NPA Annual Conference. The conference will take place April 12 - 14, 2019, at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, FL.

Jallal is president of MedImmune, the global biologics research and development unit of AstraZeneca. She is also executive vice president of AstraZeneca and is a member of its senior executive team reporting to the CEO. She joined MedImmune in March 2006.

Jallal is chairman of the Board of Viela Bio, serves on the Board of Anthem, Inc. and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Johns Hopkins University, and the Board of Directors of the University of Maryland Health Sciences Research Park Corporation.

Jallal has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications and has more than 15 patents. She is a member of the American Association of Cancer Research and the American Association of Science. She is also the president of the Association of Women in Science. She was named the 2017 Woman of the Year by the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association.

The NPA Annual Conference is the largest national conference and networking event dedicated to the postdoctoral community. Conference attendees - postdoctoral scholars, administrators, faculty, and representatives from professional societies, industry, and corporations - are provided with the opportunity to gather and enhance their professional development and leadership skills. The Annual Conference is coordinated by the NPA Meetings Committee, which assists the staff and the Board of Directors in planning and organizing the conferences.
