By: United Premier Soccer League Based in Germantown (Md.), Germantown City FC will begin UPSL Pro Premier play in the Northeast Conference, and is finalizing its venue in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards. United Premier Soccer League Northeast Conference Manager Paul Konneh said, "The UPSL is providing opportunities in communities to elevate themselves via a national league. Germantown City FC is a prime example of that. It's a thriving youth soccer club in its community with an engagement on the men's Pro Development side. They're ready to take the next step and enter a nationally-recognized Pro/Rel system, and we wish Germantown City FC all the best as it prepares for the 2018 Fall Season." Germantown City FC was created in 2008 and now features more than 300 youth players with recreational and competitive teams starting in the youngest age groups. The club has also operated a Men's Pro Development team in local adult leagues in Virginia and Maryland. Germantown City FC Head Coach Edwin Baldomar played for Bolivia's Boys Under-19 National Team before moving on to a career that included a stint with New England Revolution (MLS) and stays at a number of United Soccer League (USL) and Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) clubs. Germantown City FC Head Coach Edwin Baldomar said, "We joined the UPSL because we want to go to the next level. To be play in a top-level league will show the kids that are growing up with the club that soccer doesn't stop at 16 or 17. They can keep playing for the club, and this is going to change things for Germantown." Germantown City FC is finalizing its agreements with local sports facilities ahead of the upcoming UPSL 2018 Fall Season. The club will be hosting tryouts soon with information available on its website, and soon will announce its upcoming game schedule.
