WELLINGTON, New Zealand - July 18, 2018 - PRLog -- Four of the potentially 20 riders competing in the second annual Gobi Desert Cup this August are representing Team New Zealand. These teammates have come together to train and hopefully master the challenge of riding 480 kilometers across the Gobi Desert on semi-wild Mongolian horses. The riders comprise of Stephanie Scott, Peter Bridal, Mathilde Schwarz, and Kasmira Graham. Training is ongoing and they are supported by local equestrian business Tack Up Equestrian.

Co-founded in 2017 by FEI 3* Endurance Rider and North Queensland resident, Camille Champagne and leading Mongolian veterinarian Naranbataar Adiya, the Gobi Desert Cup is a 480 kilometer multi-stage endurance race through the Gobi Desert, riding Mongolian horses everyday for 6 days over 80 kilometers (approximately 50 miles). This challenge is the only one of its kind to combine endurance while positively supporting Mongolian culture and their horses.

The race will challenge riders with changing weather conditions, horses, and the riders own mental and physical fitness. As Ride Director Camille Champagne notes, "You may have what it takes, but it will take everything you've got."
