United Premier Soccer League Announces Warriors FC as Western Conference Expansion Team
Santa Clarita (Calif.)-Based Pro Development Club Joins UPSL for 2018 Fall Season
Based in Santa Clarita (Calif.), Warriors FC will begin UPSL Championship play in the Western Conference.
United Premier Soccer League Western Conference Operations Manager Gary Brunner said, "We're pleased to have Warriors FC in the UPSL. Josh Cruz has been an advocate for the game and Warriors FC is a reflection of that. He's providing opportunities for players, and it's a mutual respect that develops when you show how much you care. We welcome Josh Cruz and Warriors FC to the UPSL, and wish them success as they get ready to start with the upcoming Fall Season."
Josh Cruz is Owner and President of Warriors FC. A native of El Salvador, Cruz, 37, was a defender and midfielder in his youth before immigrating to Southern California as a teen and graduating from Los Angeles High School. He currently holds two advanced degrees and is a professional accountant.
Warriors FC Owner and President Josh Cruz said, "We want to help the community and there's a lot of youth players that have solid backgrounds in soccer, so we wanted to build a Pro Development team to provide that experience. The UPSL is the perfect place for that because they've been growing stronger every days. Players believe in the progress of league and the clubs are getting stronger. We're excited to get started."
Warriors FC is currently exploring its venue options in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards, and has recently played friendless against Santa Ana (Calif.)-based La Maquina FC (UPSL) and Riverside (Calif.)-based Coras USA (NPSL) in preparation for the upcoming season.
The club is hosting tryouts every Tuesday and Thursday through August at Central Park (27150 Bouquet Canyon Rd., Santa Clarita, CA 91350), and soon will announce its upcoming game schedule.
