Follow on Google News | Sacred Heart School's Director of Communications travels to Saigon to meet prospective studentsBy: Sacred Heart School The journey was facilitated by EduBoston, an agency Sacred Heart School partners with in its quest to recruit international students to expand the school's International Program. "The students were excellent and for the most part had a great command of the English language," said Ellis, noting that many students already had "their entire educational life planned." "One girl heading into the 7th grade explained her plan to attend private high school in the U.S. and then do a year at a community college to save money before transferring to one on a list of prominent schools and pursue a degree in biomedical engineering," Aside from interviewing prospective students, Ellis had the opportunity to learn about the Vietnamese culture and educational components during his too-short stay. "I was fortunate to have the chance to visit the Mekong River Delta, tour the Reunification Palace and attend Mass at Saigon's Notre Dame Cathedral, but the best part was exploring the street food scene and enjoying some of the greatest cuisine I've ever had – all prepared in the simplest of ways," said Ellis. Over the next several weeks it will be determined whether those students interviewed will be enrolled at Sacred Heart. "If we're lucky enough to have any of the fine students I met become part of our International Program, I know they will be an excellent addition to the Sacred Heart community and will bring some amazing cultural lessons we can all learn from," said Ellis.
