HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - July 16, 2018 - PRLog -- Originally hailing from Cape Breton, Magnetic North have been busy these past few months with a relocation to Halifax, lineup changes, a retooled sound, and a new image. The band have just reached an agreement with HouseFire Records to record and promote an acoustic EP as well as a full-length album. The EP, entitled Digital Illusions, is already in production at HouseFire Studio One in Eastern Passage. Ahead of its release, the band is putting out their first single in 2 years, "Beauty & Love", in tribute to legendary Canadian musician and poet Gord Downie, who tragically passed away from brain cancer in October of 2017.

Gord Downie, best known as the front man for Kingston rock band The Tragically Hip, touched the lives of countless Canadians. The band's final performance at the K-Rock center in their home town, broadcasted by CBC, was viewed live by more than 11 million across the country. "Beauty & Love" is one man's reflection on this, and a celebration of Gord's life and legacy.

"I was very passionate about music at a very young age, playing Alto Sax in the school band throughout grade school. My father would always expose me to a wealth of classic rock and making music was always a passion of mine," said Dave McNeil, front-man for Magnetic North. "Gord Downie was an incredibly talented musician who respected all cultures and went above and beyond for the causes he believed in. He was a huge influence on me from both a musical and humanitarian level.  'Beauty & Love' is my gift back to him. We wanted to tell his story in our own way highlighting his contribution to Canadian music and Canadians everywhere."

The band will be working closely with producer Isaac Kent. Isaac has been making serious waves this year with his own project, Dali Van Gogh, who recently opened for the Glorious Sons at the Garrison Brewing Back-lot Bash. DVG's latest single, Outside Looking In, has gained considerable momentum, receiving play across Canada, the US, and Europe.

"We are extremely excited to be working with [Magnetic North]," said Isaac Kent on the band. "Dave [McNeil] and Rob [Mazzocca] are both extremely talented song writers. I can't wait to see what we can come up with."

Digital Illusions will be released in Sydney, Nova Scotia, at Seaside Daze festival on July 21st. "Beauty & Love" is now available everywhere music is sold online, and hits radio around the globe this week. Ask for it at your local station.
