Dr. Adhi Sharma Named to Becker's Hospital Review List of 100 CMOs to Know

OCEANSIDE, N.Y. - July 11, 2018 - PRLog -- Becker's Hospital Review has named Adhi Sharma, MD, senior vice president of  medical affairs and chief medical officer at South Nassau Communities Hospital, to its prestigious list of "100 Hospital and Health System CMOs to Know" in the United States.

The list is based on individuals' experience in overseeing medical and quality affairs at their respective organizations. The 100 CMOs are indispensable members of hospital and health system leadership teams and have demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement in safety and quality. During Dr. Sharma's tenure as chief medical officer, South Nassau has:

·       Opened a new Center for Maternal Fetal Medicine, the only dedicated center of its kind for high-risk pregnancies on the South Shore of Nassau County;

·       Restored emergency medical services in Long Beach (NY) with the opening of South Nassau's Emergency Department (ED) at Long Beach, Long Island's first and only free-standing emergency department; and

·       Earned the American College of Surgeons (ACS) verification for its Oceanside Emergency Department as a Level II Trauma Center, so that it remains the only one of its kind located on the South Shore of Nassau County.

As chief medical officer and senior vice president of medical affairs, Dr. Sharma, a resident of Muttontown, is responsible for facilitating medical staff interactions with hospital administration and the governing board and for assuring the effective and efficient delivery of quality medical care consistent with the mission of South Nassau. He also oversees strategic planning and execution, as well as the implementation of care management programs, and monitors the effectiveness of management practices and productivity indicators.  Prior to joining South Nassau in 2014 as the hospital's medical director for utilization, Dr. Sharma held senior administrative and clinical leadership positions for some of the region's most respected healthcare providers, including chair of the department of emergency medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, which is a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island.

         A member of the American College of Emergency Medicine and American College of Medical Toxicology, serving on the practice and education committees respectively, Dr. Sharma has co-authored papers published in the Journal of Emergency Medicine, Academy of Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medicine Clinics of North America.  He has authored chapters published in clinical textbooks, including Rosen's Textbook of Emergency Medicine; 5-Minute Pediatric Emergency Medicine Consult, and Goldfrank's Toxicologic Emergencies.
