Southern California Hospice Foundation And Orange County Community Foundation To Host A Giving Day

SCHF Joins Four Other Organizations with the Goal of Collectively Raising $75,000 for Older Adults in the Community

COSTA MESA, Calif. - July 10, 2018 - PRLog -- Southern California Hospice Foundation (SCHF) will partner with the Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF) and four fellow nonprofits on July 11 to host Preserving Dignity, a Giving Day for OC's older adults in need. Preserving Dignity is a 24-hour online effort to raise critical funds for five local organizations. Together, they aim to raise $75,000 for their shared vision and ambitious fundraising goals for a common purpose.

Preserving Dignity is part of a bold initiative by OCCF to boost the capacity of local nonprofits through a series of Collaborative Giving Days over the coming year. Nonprofits with shared missions are invited to come together to boost collective giving for their causes. OCCF will power the Preserving Dignity campaign by providing seed funding to support the marketing assets, campaign resources, and collaborative partnerships.

The five organizations participating in Preserving Dignity include Alzheimer's OC, SeniorServ, Council on Aging-Southern California, Southern California Hospice Foundation and St. Francis Home.

"By collaborating with like-minded organizations, we can make a greater impact in helping older adults in Orange County," said Michelle Wulfestieg, executive director of SCHF. "We're grateful for all of our donors who support our mission of ensuring that every person, no matter their diagnosis or financial situation, is provided with dignity, peace and comfort in their final days."

OCCF first challenged Orange County residents to "give where their heart lives" during the inaugural i heart oc Giving Day in 2015, raising more than $1.8 million through gifts to 347 participating nonprofits in just 30 hours. OCCF nearly doubled those results in 2016 during the second annual i heart oc Giving Day, receiving contributions totaling $3.2 million for 418 participating nonprofits. In 2017, OCCF re-envisioned i heart oc as an expanded opportunity for nonprofits to connect with one another in support of their shared missions.

"We're excited to empower aligned nonprofits to work together to maximize impact and help support older adults in need," said Shelley Hoss, president, OCCF. "We want to encourage collaboration as a powerful change-making tool and are thrilled to be able to provide this group with the resources they will need to be successful, including a marketing toolkit and a robust online fundraising platform."
