By: United Premier Soccer League The UPSL is pleased to announce that effective immediately with the 2018 Fall Season that the Western Conference will integrate the California Champions League as part of its new UPSL League One third tier competition. United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "Southern California is so full of club teams looking for something more, and it's long been a goal of ours to make at third tier happen in SoCal. We recently added a third tier in Colorado, and now the structure is ready to make this connection with the California Champions League. Oliquer Olivar has built an outstanding league, and our goal continues to be to unite clubs from across America into an Open Play System where teams can be part of the global FIFA-mandated Promotion and Relegation standard already in place in soccer nations across the globe." Founded in 2014, California Champions League currently features teams in Calabasas (Calif.), Thousand Oaks, Van Nuys and Woodland Hills. Owned and operated by Oliquer Olivar, UPSL League One California Champions Division's 2018 Summer Season began in July 1 and will continue through a four-team playoff in November. The winner is eligible for promotion to the UPSL Championship Division for the 2019 Spring Season. UPSL Western Conference California Champions Division Manager Oliquer Olivar said, "We want to build the game here, and we have teams that have checked into playing into the UPSL but they're missing a piece here or there and by going under the UPSL umbrella we help them transition to where they have the organization and backing to compete in the UPSL at the top tier level. This is what promotion and relegation is all about." The new UPSL League One California Champions Division will host many of the UPSL Pro Premier and UPSL Championship reserve teams. New clubs also are expected to join in the near future, with a number of others within the marketplace expressing interest. The UPSL League One California Champions Division will have its champions promoted, while the UPSL Championship Western Conference SoCal Division will have its bottom teams relegated.
