Massachusetts Pirates Defensive Back Kiante Northington Named Defensive Player of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. - July 6, 2018 - PRLog -- .Kiante Northington, Defensive Back for the Massachusetts Pirates, Southern New England's professional indoor football team, earned recognition as a player of the week by the National Arena League.

Northington, (5'9" 185 lbs) a native of Louisville, KY, had two interceptions in this week's game against the Columbus Lions (7-3.) The hard fought game ended in a 63-62 loss for the Pirates (8-4).

Northington starred at Division 1-FCS Eastern Kentucky University appearing in 46 games totaling 207 tackles and 6 INT's over his career. He was named a 2016 2^nd Team All OVC performer as a senior after an impressive 2016 season highlighted by a solid performance against BIG 10 Purdue University, in which he logged 11 tackles and a forced fumble against the Boilermakers.

"Kiante was an unknown coming into camp, he's a rookie but has adapted to the arena game quickly, and has been impressive all year," said Jawad Yatim President of the Massachusetts Pirates. "From the first day of camp we knew he'd have an impact on our ball club and has very much done so thus far in the season. He deserves every accolade he's received this year and we are looking forward to Kiante continuing his consistent play in our secondary."
