CONCORD, Mass. - July 25, 2018 - PRLog -- The Open Education Consortium (OEC), the global open education leader, is celebrating its 10 year anniversary. Launched in July 2008, OEC is delighted to celebrate a decade of successful growth.

During our first decade, OEC shared partner institution open educational resources from more than 30,000 courses that have empowered individuals worldwide. Projects such as Open Education Week and the Year of Open reached thousands of participants in almost every country in the world. Participation in the annual Open Education Global Conferences continues to grow and reached the largest attendance ever in 2018. The OEC membership has grown to 229 institutions, 29 languages, from 42 countries.

"Our celebration also includes future thinking as our greatest accomplishments are yet to come," said Paul Stacey, OEC Executive Director. "Going forward we anticipate a future where education is accessible and open to all. By creating a global network where the open education community comes together to share strategies, practices, and innovations we're working to make that future possible." Our Anniversary Timeline (http://www.oeconsortium.org/10th-anniversary/) depicts that the milestones are the results of the combined effort within the open education community.
