Everything about the new "Witness" Tour of Katy Perry

SYDNEY - July 5, 2018 - PRLog -- Witness: The Tour is by far the most magnificent concert tour of the famous singer-songwriter, Katy Perry, and it was conducted to spread the word of her fifth album, Witness. The tour officially began in Montreal, Canada, on the 19th of September, 2017, and it garnered the 77th position on the list of Pollstar Top 100 Worldwide Tours.

At the end of the year, the tour had managed to earn $28.1 million and more than 266,300 people had come out to attend Katy Perry's concert by the time the tour came to an end.

Katy Perry officially announced her plans for Witness: The Tour back in May, 2015, and she shared that the tour will be sponsored by AEG Live. Each ticket purchased also included a copy of her latest album, while one dollar from every ticket sale was donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Fans not only got the opportunity to listen to their favourite pop star live in their hometowns, but also, they enjoyed the amazing opportunity to win free tickets by supporting the organisation through the Global Citizen and Global Poverty Project.

Once the pre-sales were announced back in May, 2017, Katy Perry told her fans that she will be conducting some additional shows, which were held in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Boston. The demand grew so enormously high that a second show was held at the O2 Arena in London, and the Australian itinerary was announced when June came to an end. Again, increasingly high demand forced the producers to add several additional shows in the country, while a second concert was added to New Zealand as well.

Even though the tour was schedule to start on the 7th September, 2017, but some production delays pushed the dates back to the 19th. Katy Perry was joined by Noah Cyrus, Carly Rae Jepsen, Plymouth, and Purity Ring in the opening acts. Katy Perry confirmed three concerts in Mexico, and several more in Peru, Brazil, Chile and Argentina. Later, she expanded her Asian dates, with a special New Year's Eve concert in Abu Dhabi. In January, the tour went on to play in South Africa, with two concerts held in Johannesburg. Later in mid-February, Katy performed at the Rock In Rio Festival held in Lisbon, and another concert held at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, Spain.

According to the reviews of Jon Caramanica, published in The New York, the tour was "game, crazy, slightly excessive", however, the fresh material the singer showcased was "among her weakest." Katy's confidence on stage was praised, and the acoustic performances on the guitar where truly phenomenal. The massive puppets, exotic dancers, huge basketball goals, Venus robot, vividly explosive lights and confetti arrangements gave the show a glamorous setting. However, according to Caramanica, "Perry's new songs from his 'Witness' album do not have the sharpness or pop exuberance of his older material, but simply they slide into a generic beating of a heartbeat per minute."

Regardless, Witness: The Tour, managed to be highly successful and the producers constantly struggled to add more dates to accommodate the raging demand worldwide.
