Linda Stewart, owner of Propel Swim Academy has been teaching swimming lessons since she was 16 years old and holds a Master's Degree in Education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Stewart is extremely passionate about teaching children to swim, water safety, and the intersection of child development and swimming. She is committed to building a community of families who love to swim and who swim well together.
Linda stated, "Propel is a unique swim school. Not only because we are family operated, but because in addition to teaching kids, we are really concerned with their social, emotional, and cognitive development. These children are a blank canvas. I tell my staff to do something amazing with that canvas and create something they'll always remember." You could see the love these children felt for Linda and Nick just by their brief interactions with the kids.
Linda's son, Nick, is the Operations Manager of Propel Swim Academy. He has a degree in Accounting and previously owned a swim lesson company, Swim-2-U, in the Northern VA area. Nick is thrilled to partner with his Mom to create a swimming facility and business that develops young people and forms lasting relationships with generations of South Riding Families.
"I'm grateful for all of the families here – I get to see your kids grow as swimmers and as people. It really brings me joy every day to see them in here swimming and having fun in the pool," stated Nick.
