Volume II of Sir George Martin Biography Receives Starred Review from Kirkus
Womack, Dean of the Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Professor of English at Monmouth University, is a world renowned authority on the Beatles and their enduring cultural influence. His first book on Martin, Maximum Volume, was also just announced as a Gold winner for Biography in the 20th annual Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards.
In Sound Pictures (Chicago Review Press), which officially debuts September 4, 2018, Womack provides readers with a detailed account of Martin's collaborative work with "the fab four" and beyond – including the later bands he worked with, and the final years of his life which have seldom been covered.
"It's humbling to receive such a strong endorsement from one of our industry's stalwarts," said Womack. "Chronicling George Martin's unparalleled creative vision and accomplishments has been one of the great privileges of my life."
Womack is also the author of three novels, and editor of numerous volumes of literary and cultural criticism, as well as the author of several other books on the Beatles including Long and Winding Roads: The Evolving Artistry of the Beatles and The Beatles Encyclopedia. He pens a bi-weekly column for CultureSonar entitled Everything Fab Four.
