UPSL's Milwaukee Bavarian SC and San Nicolas FC to Face Off at USASA National Amateur Cup

LOS ANGELES - June 30, 2018 - PRLog -- Two of the United Premier Soccer League's top clubs will play each when the United States Adult Soccer Association National Amateur Cup Finals gets underway in August.

With a matchup already locked in place, Milwaukee Bavarian SC will play San Nicolas FC in the USASA National Amateur Cup Semifinals at Bavarian Soccer Complex (700 W. Lexington Blvd. Glendale, WI 53217) at 5 p.m. CT on Friday night, Aug. 3.

Milwaukee Bavarian SC is currently 4-0-0 in its first UPSL Pro Premier Midwest Conference North Division season. A four-time USASA National Amateur Cup champion (1976, '01, '02, '03), Bavarian SC is the National Amateur Cup runner-up each of the last two years.

Milwaukee Bavarian SC General Manager Tom Zaiss said, "There's no other place to start than the fact that we've bitterly lost the last two (Cup Finals), and so for an amateur club there's now a sense of redemption in coming back and winning a championship. That's driving the guys right now. It'll be great to be able to play at home, but there's definitely added pressure playing in front of our home fans. The club is ready. We're grateful that USASA has given us the opportunity to host again, and we're looking forward to welcoming the teams into Milwaukee."

San Nicolas FC is 10-3-1 is the UPSL Championship Western Conference SoCal Division this season. A long-time member of the UPSL and the UPSL 2015 Spring Season champion, San Nicolas FC is making its first appearance at the National Amateur Cup Finals. The club is the third consecutive UPSL Western Conference representing club at the tournament following Moreno Valley FC in 2016 and L.A. Wolves FC last year.

San Nicolas FC General Manager Daniel Collazo said, "This means the world to San Nicolas FC. The club is very well known on the unaffiliated tournament side with more than 50 tournament wins over 20 years – we've pretty much won everything that can be won on the cash tournament scene – but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. This, though, is a chance to do something and make a statement as a real amateur team."

The USASA National Amateur Cup Final is Saturday, Aug. 6, at 7:30 p.m. CT.

Teams qualify for the USASA National Amateur Cup by entering the tournament at the state or regional level. The finalist from each of the four regions advances to the National Amateur Cup Final, which is hosted by one of the four competing teams.

This year the four teams will share nearly $40,000 in prize money, with the champion receiving $15,000.

Last year, L.A. Wolves FC bounced back from an opening 1-0 loss to eventual champions Lansdowne Bhoys SC to defeat Florida Kickers FC, 4-1, in the consolation final.

United Premier Soccer League

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 170 teams in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 200-plus teams targeted for 2018 Fall Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
