The Company's brands have long played an integral role in our nation's fight for freedom. Consider the Jeep brand: Born of American ingenuity and tested in the heat of battle in jungles, deserts, and battlefields during World War II. The hardworking and loyal Jeep 4x4s garnered heroic praise and unwavering devotion from allied soldiers the world over. One Jeep vehicle was even awarded the Purple Heart for meritorious valor and duty. The Dodge brand's military record is just as impressive, contributing mightily by producing a large percentage of the Army's fighting wheeled vehicles including large six-wheeled troop and cargo transports, light command cars and ambulances.
And, not to be caught on the sidelines, the Chrysler brand can trace its military support back to the 1930s. As a designated major U.S. defense contractor, the Company has at one time or another produced everything from Sherman tanks to B-29 bomber engines, from all types of military vehicles such as ambulances and amphibious trucks to antiaircraft guns, shells, missiles, and even field kitchens and refrigerators.
History is important, but what is FCA US doing today? Plenty!
• Annual monetary donation to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation program
• Support towards the construction of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.
• Financial support of the (USO)
• Donation of Jeep® vehicles to selected Operation package recipients
As a partner with our U.S. Armed Forces, FCA US has played a vital role in keeping America safe and free. We continue to support the men and women who serve in their fight to enable and preserve democracy for the rest of the world.
1940's: Stealing The General's Jeep Vehicle | Jeep®
1940's: Stealing The General's Jeep Vehicle: In this particular tale, you'll see how even on the verge of war, a boisterous group of young Air Force upstarts finds time for shenanigans. This time, they might have bitten off more than they could chew when they steal the General's Jeep vehicle...
And of course.... The story of Jeep & America continues to be one of strength and service. God Bless You & God Bless America, the land of the free, the home of the brave.
