Renovated Hy-Vee Arena to feature Mondo Super X 720 track and Mondo Ramflex flooring

Set to reopen for youth and adult sports in September, venue will be home to largest indoor track in continental U.S.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - June 28, 2018 - PRLog -- It once was home to NBA and NHL teams, and it has hosted an NCAA Final Four and a Republican National Convention. But in September, the venue formerly known as Kemper Arena will reopen with a new name, a new purpose—and a new Mondo track and Mondo sports flooring.

Following a $39 million renovation, Hy-Vee Arena will be a state-of-the-art, two-story, four-level youth and adult sports facility with the largest indoor track—350 meters—in the continental U.S., weight training, cardio and fitness rooms, and courts for basketball, volleyball, pickleball and futsal. The supplier for the track, weight and fitness spaces throughout the facility is Mondo, the global leader in track and field, and indoor sport flooring.

"With state-of-the-art facilities for youth and adult sports and fitness, Hy-Vee Arena will be a unique venue," said Steve Foutch, CEO, Foutch Brothers. "The Mondo track and Mondo sports flooring will help make it a valuable resource for the Kansas City area for years to come."

The arena's 350-meter indoor track is a Mondo Super X 720 track. Engineered for speed and comfort, Super X 720 provides the optimal blend of energy return, comfort, safety and durability for everything from daily training to the toughest competitions. Strong vulcanized rubber provides optimum traction while a unique textured bottom layer generates a cushion of air for extreme comfort and allows swifter transitions as the foot rolls from the fifth to the first metatarsus.

Green and sustainable, Super X 720 is GREENGUARD Gold-certified for better indoor air quality; bacterial, microbacterial and fungal resistant; and 100 percent recyclable.

The weight room, training room and cardio room will have Mondo Ramflex. Versatile and durable, Ramflex is a double-layered vulcanized rubber flooring with a hammered surface finish. Ramflex resists the wear and the weight of sports equipment, while providing optimal shock absorption and energy return. Its nonporous surface allows for easy maintenance and, because it's anti-slip, it provides the perfect grip for every kind of workout, even with minimal footwear or bare feet.

The venue is intended to be open 6 a.m. to 12 midnight, 363 days per year to leagues and individuals, and it will host tournaments and competition most weekends.

The renovation is being led by Foutch Brothers, a Kansas City architecture and development firm. Kiefer USA, an athletic surfaces company based in Lindenhurst, Ill., will be installing the Mondo flooring.
