Hometown Singer Joins Forces with Other Locals in Santé Fe High School Tragedy Benefit Fundraisers

It does the heart good to know that faith in our fellow man has not been shattered. There are still good people out there that are willing to step up into the hour of crisis and our young Texans are doing all of us proud.

HOUSTON - June 26, 2018 - PRLog -- In the Clear Lake Community local country music singer song writer Annie Rost joined the ranks of other bands earlier this month at Molly's Pub.  The other bands featured were authentic Irish in flavor in the form of The Blaggards, Sean Orr and Clan Celie.  The event was the brain child of Clan Celie band leader Geoff Mules, Molly's Pub owner Pat Finnerly and a neighboring high school soccer coach and teacher Shawn Ruby.

Molly's is a traditional Irish Pub right in the heart of the Houston Texas suburban community of Clear Lake.  Molly's has been in the ownership of Pat Finnerly since the early 1990's and a pillar of this suburbs landscape.  Pat is always willing to support his fellow citizens and school programs in their causes.

"We needed to do something.  The community wants to help.  We just don't want to be in the media fray at ground zero.  We wanted to raise much needed funding for the victims' families of the Santé Fe High School shooting. It is nice to see our communities coming together to support our neighbors.  It is very important to demonstrate that this type of devastation will not define who we really are." quoted Coach Ruby.

Singer and songwriter, Annie Rost was quite unnerved when the news of the shooting reached her.  She attended school in Santa Fe High's neighboring school district of Alvin High School with former class mate and Molly's Pub event co-chair, Coach Shawn Ruby.

This type of news is always upsetting.  However, this tragedy happened in Annie's own back yard so to speak.    When Shawn approached Annie with an offer of participation, she readily agreed.  "Santa Fe High School played a significant role in my youth and it still does as I have friends and family members whose children attend Santa Fe ISD.  So, when Shawn called with a request to join in the Molly's benefit concert entertainment efforts, I jumped at the chance to help any way I could ".  said Annie.

Ms. Rost is also offering up two separate fundraising efforts of her own during the entire month of July.  Both of her fundraisers will benefit the Santa Fe High victims' families.  She is featuring her newest charting single "Texas Hospitality" on all the major music platforms of Amazon, Spotify, IHeart Radio, Slacker, Napster, Amazon, Pandora, Sound Cloud, Touch Tunes, etc.…   Ms. Rost will be donating .99 from each download to the special victims' fund.  She will also be holding a benefit drawing of a FREE backyard acoustic concert to one lucky winner who enters the drawing for$5.00 an entry at the following link address:  https://raffles.ticketprinting.com/raffle.jsp?raffleID=78... as many times as you want to increase your chances to win and raise money for the victims' fund.  All the proceeds from these two fundraisers will be going to the Santa Fe ISD Education Foundation special fund.   Check out more about Ms. Annie Rost and the fundraiser details at her website www.annierostmusic.com/.

This nightmarish tragedy has seen many fundraising efforts pop up all over the region to benefit the families of the Santé Fe High School victims.  The list of folks wanting to help is both wide and varied from all walks of life.  From local professional sporting teams like the Houston Astros Professional Baseball Team who wore special t-shirts during a recent game to honor the Santé Fe community, to the Houston Dynamo Professional Soccer team who donated their time to assist in a soccer tournament held at the League City Sports Plex.  The tournament was comprised of eight neighboring high school soccer teams.  You may have seen even the smallest of local bake sales; car washes and garage sales being manned by local area youth groups to support their neighboring community's students in their time of need.

At present, the Molly's event raised just over $4100.0 at their Sunday fundraising concert.  There are still benefit T-shirts in the Santa Fe colors of Green and Gold for sale.  Contact Molly's Pub in Clear Lake for Details.  The soccer tournament raised $1000.00 and the tournament organizers intend to make this tournament an annual memorial tournament to raise scholarship funds.  They are in hopes of hosting two to three dozen teams next year.

All the money raised by the Molly's event and the soccer tournament has been delivered to a Special Fund in the care of the Santa Fe ISD Education Foundation.  Every cent helps these families that are dealing with the after effects from this unfortunate event.  They have been hit with unexpected expenses and ongoing medical care in the wake of this crisis.  Just because the tragic news of this nightmare slips out of the headlines, does not mean the need doesn't continue to exists.

"The Santa Fe Strong Fund is managed by the Santa Fe Texas Education Foundation, who has partnered with Texas First Bank and the National Compassion Fund (NCF), a subsidiary of the National Center for Victims of Crime, to develop and implement a fund distribution plan to provide direct financial support to the families of those killed and injured in the horrific tragedy at Santa Fe High School on May 18, 2018. 100% of the donations to this fund will be distributed directly to the victims and their families. We greatly appreciate the support from so many throughout our community and beyond," said Santa Fe Texas Education Foundation Director, MS Jodi Gidley.
