-- October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). Over the last few years, it has become a globally recognized event - in the US it is often acknowledged for the entire month of October, around the world often a week in October is recognized.
With more and more global companies recognizing it, the need to plan and manage a robust NCSAM program has become a foundational aspect of security awareness program plans.
Due to the complexity and event planning of the month, preparation for October should be early in the year. Thinking and early stage idea brainstorming should begin in June/July. This allows enough time to get the key players involved, outreach to external resources to secure speaking dates, work with internal departments, and generally to be proactive instead of last-minute "oh $#@!" moment.
