"New Day Foundation is honored to be chosen as a recipient of the 100+ Women Who Care Macomb," said New Day Co-founder and President Gina Kell Spehn. "Women like Lara Shovelin and the 15 other members of Women Who Care are uniting to inspire a community, and this is only the beginning. With this gift, we will be able to provide financial resources and emotional support for local families who are facing cancer. This gift can bring hope to families, and there is nothing more important than that for improving treatment outcomes." 100+ Women Who Care Macomb was created in 2017 by three Macomb County residents, Brooke Blower, Dana Earle and Gina Rieck, who desire to make a significant difference in their community. The philanthropic group gathers four times per year to collect monies from their members, then pools the resources to make a substantial financial impact on local charities. 100+ Women Who Care Macomb is comprised of women from all different social and economic backgrounds. Individually it's challenging to make a dramatic contribution, but by combining the members' resources, they can make a huge impact on local non-profit organizations without time-consuming fundraising events and planning. "The Spehn Kell family's story moved me," said founding member Dana Earle. "I had read about Gina's son Sam on Facebook about a year ago. When the history of New Day Foundation was presented at our 100+ Women Macomb group, I was deeply moved by the charity's roots. Then when we were informed that Gina was Sam's mom, I knew that New Day Foundation was the right choice for my vote." More information on Sam Kell's story can be found on the "Pray for Sam Kell" Facebook page, written by New Day Co-founder Gina Kell Spehn. 100+ Women Who Care Macomb, is currently seeking new members.
