LOS ANGELES - June 24, 2018 - PRLog -- In this era, we are still having the conversation about  diversity and African American firsts in entertainment. Actress Kelly M. Jenrette and Actor Melvin Jackson, Jr., a Hollywood husband and wife duo are being considered for a total of 3 Emmys. They are raising awareness on how far the industry has come and how much farther it has, yet, to go.

When asked how this would change the industry, both Kelly and Melvin contributed to say, ''A win to become the first Black couple to secure a nomination in the same year chips away at the existing mold and will show continued growth within the industry."

Melvin co-wrote "This Eddie Murphy Role Is Mine, Not Yours," alongside Kelly, which he produced and stars in as himself and Eddie Murphy. It is a web series on YouTube. Kelly M. Jenrette is being considered for an Emmy for her Guest Star role, as Annie, on The Handmaid's Tale, Season 2, Episode 4. A nomination for Kelly and Melvin, each, in the same year would be historic. Likewise, a nomination for Melvin in either of his categories would be landmark.

In their web series, "This Eddie Murphy Role Is Mine, Not Yours. (," Melvin is being considered for 2 Emmys as a producer and an actor; for outstanding short form comedy or drama series and outstanding actor in a short form comedy or drama series.

While making history isn't this young couple's sole focus, Melvin shared. ''All races should be recognized and given equal opportunities, as others. As a power couple, the nomination allows us to utilize our platform to bring awareness to social issues we are passionate about.''

Together, they co-wrote a children's book, "The Adventures of Jimmy The Fly (," which was conceived by Melvin in 2000 but the couple decided in late 2017 to turn Melvin's idea into a series of children's books. It is an epic adventure that African American children can see themselves in.
