Topmost Nigerian Reggae Icon - Ras Kimono Pass At Age 60

PITTSBURGH - June 21, 2018 - PRLog -- We are heartbroken to share with you, the passing of Ras Kimono, following complications from cardio respiratory arrest leading to severe respiratory failure. This sad incident occurred on June 10th, 2018.

Mr Oseloke Augustine Onwubuya popularly known as Ras Kimono was scheduled to have left Nigeria back for the United States of America; where he resided, on June 7th, 2018. Kimono was unable to board his flight due to some ticketing mix-up that needed to be resolved the following day.

Unfortunately, Ras Kimono who had recently treated malaria and cough, while still at the airport, started complaining that he wasn't feeling well. On getting home, felt worse and was rushed to his family Doctor (Dr Hansen) who referred him to Lagoon hospital, where he got admitted for treatment until his demise.

We are deeply saddened by his death. Ras Kimono was Nigeria's most Colourful Veteran Reggae Music Superstar and proud Dad to 5 kids.

He was a selfless, loving, caring and attentive man who spread his love and kindness across the World through his brand of Reggae music and the relationships he forged during the 40+ years on stage as a Performing Artist.

Ras Kimono used his voice and God-given talent to preach his kind of gospel. He used his music as a form of activism to fight against social injustice. He is one of the most vocally talented Performers Nigeria has ever produced. Kimono was a passionate man, full of inspiration. He had no hard feelings; all he had in his heart was love for everyone. He believed, if the World could set aside all the trivialities for a moment, we might be able to save the future for our kids.

We are truly honored to have shared a part of this wonderful man with the World.

Please, let's celebrate his legacy and keep his memory alive.

This is a very difficult time for his family and we appreciate all the outpouring of love.
