Follow on Google News | Riad Africa & Spa Expands with Addition of 8 New RoomsBy: Riad Africa Comprised of four merchant houses fused to create a truly luxurious riad and an authentic and charming hotel, the riad is just five minutes' walk from the famous Djemaa el Fna square, which bursts into life at dusk every day when the musicians, acrobats, snake charmers and food vendors arrive to ply their trade. Comments Nick Anstead, owner of tour operating company Specialist Morocco, and Riad Africa: "The addition of the 8 new rooms marks the end of an extensive period of investment for us. "We now have a total of 23 rooms, a brand-new spa, cooking school, and Bistro Africa – our recently opened roof-top restaurant. "The final stage of the development took a total of just 40 days, which is no mean feat considering the usual pace of building developments in Morocco. "Tourism is booming in Morocco and the period from February to May has been exceptionally busy, with a 20% increase in business, fuelled by new direct flights from European cities such as Ryanair's Budapest to Marrakech route, and years of stability." On site guest facilities include two pools (one is heated in winter) plus a traditional hammam and treatment room at the 'Arabia Spa'. Cooking courses operate daily at the Marrakech Cooking School whilst delicious Moroccan meals can be enjoyed in the new Bistro Africa. The roof-top restaurant is run by a highly talented and experienced Moroccan chef, who has been preparing typical Moroccan dishes for many years. Whether you take a light lunch or dinner, you'll enjoy a mouth-watering culinary experience. The majority of ingredients are fresh products; all meat, vegetables and fruit are purchased directly from sellers in the nearby market, as part of Riad Africa's responsible tourism ethos in support of the local community. The recently-opened Arabia Oriental Spa offers a wide choice of beauty and body treatments from professionally trained and diploma qualified local Marrakech masseuses and beauticians. The riad – which is run by a passionate and friendly local Moroccan team – is a 'first-class' category riad, licensed by the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism and is a member of AMHMS – the Association of Guest Houses in Marrakech.
