MEMPHIS, Tenn. - June 13, 2018 - PRLog -- For the third year, The Little Writers Workshop is helping youth ages 7 -12 who are interested in writing great stories or books hone their skills. This informative and fun workshop will be held Saturday, June 23rd at Encore Café. Check-in is at 9:00 a.m. and instruction will begin at 9:30 a.m.  The Little Writers Workshop is led by its founder, published author Jae Henderson. The cost is $25. The fee includes all materials and a light snack. Students must be registered to attend. The Encore Café is located at 726 N. Parkway, Memphis, TN 38105. More information can be found at www.littlewritersworkshop.com.

To get the most out of this experience, it is suggested that youth with a desire to participate have moderate to strong writing skills. During the workshop, little writers will learn about the parts of a story, plot, setting, character development, descriptive words, and more. They will also begin writing their own story and receive expert feedback to help make improvements.

Jae Henderson has been publishing books since 2011 and plans to release her 9th book this fall. She began The Little Writers Workshop in 2015 after being asked by numerous parents to speak to their child about writing and publishing books. "I realized that children were as interested in writing stories and books as adults. They just needed someone to tell them how to do it on a level they could comprehend. I decided that I could be that someone, and I've been hosting a workshop each summer, ever since," said Jae.

This year, The Little Writers Workshop added a new member to its staff. Allison Vester has been teaching elementary school over 17 years, and she is using her expertise to enhance the workshop's curriculum and impact.

"I'm glad Allison decided to join us. I want each participant to feel more confident in their writing skills and empowered to create enjoyable stories. I also want them to be able to implement what they learn at home and in the classroom. Having a full-time educator on the team will ensure that we are doing that with each workshop.  Many of our participants have dreams of publishing books and The Little Writers Workshop is a great place to get the foundation they need," said Jae.

The 2018 sponsor of The Little Writers Workshop is Sherman Brown the author of the upcoming novel "The Bullet In Me" in which he details how he survived after being shot in the face by his best friend as a teen.
