MissHeard Media Launches Kickstarter for 2019 Girl Powered Planner
CEO Lindsey Turnbull aims to inspire and educate girls all year long by celebrating historical actresses

"I fell in love with history in high school, although I did not learn about many female historical figures in the classroom; I met them through my own study, or even in graduate school. Young women should not have to wait until graduate school to meet the amazing young women that shaped our nation."
– Lindsey Turnbull, MissHeard Media Founder and CEO
Looking to the past, it is a challenge to find teen girls who shaped our nation- although they existed. The men who wrote history (and it was mostly white men) did not always leave room to discuss the accomplishments of women and teen girls. The more historians investigate archives and things like diaries and letters, the more we learn about women and teens who changed the nation. Surely, many amazing young women (and men)'s accomplishments are lost to history. Or, they are at least very well hidden. The Girl Powered Planner launched this week and is taking pre-orders via Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/
"The 2019 Girl Powered Planner seeks to bring these stories to the forefront so that tween and teen girls from a variety of backgrounds can see themselves reflected in American History. These are stories dying to be told, that girls deserve to hear."
Through our blog and live events, MissHeard Media offers spaces for teen girls to elevate their voices and create community. MissHeard Media helps girls to better understand one another, so that they are connected on a global scale.
Founded by a girl-advocate with a decade of experience training in girls' leadership and backed by a board of teen girls and youth-related professionals, MissHeard aims to break the mold of traditional teen media by focusing on girl-centered and -created content to foster empowered, girl-positive communities. MissHeard Media wants to create a world where all teen girls feel understood, prepared, confident, and most of all, heard.
