Madison Shakespeare Company Features Messmer High Graduate In June 22 Premiere
Taylor is a former Milwaukee Poetry Slam finalist, participated in the 2012 Brave New Voices competition, and founded a poetry club while at Milwaukee's Messmer High School. At the University of Wisconsin - Madison, he discovered theater through the First Wave Spoken Word and Hip Hop Arts Learning Community program where he participated in multiple productions. While earning a Communication Arts degree he appeared prominently in UW-Madison theater productions including Our Town and The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui.
In Madison Shakespeare Company's Taming of the Shrew, Taylor portrays Lucentio, a young lover who passionately pursues Baptista Minola's younger daughter, Bianca. Lucentio's quick thinking drives the costume-swapping comedy and intrigue of the show, turning Lucentio's servant Tranio into Lucentio, Lucentio into tutor Cambio, and rival suitor Hortensio into the musician Litio. The cast also features Sarah Z. Johnson as Kate, Joshua Woolfolk as Petruchio, and Issaka Brellenthin as Bianca. Performing June 22 through July 1 at the Edgewood College Amphitheater.
