Northwest Honda Dealers $11,000 School Giveaway Finale

VANCOUVER, Wash. - June 6, 2018 - PRLog -- Your local Northwest (NW) Honda Dealers are helping another deserving school right in the local area!  With their innovative "School is Better Thanks to Your Local NW Honda Dealer Program," 11 lucky schools will receive a $1,000 check to help with programs that otherwise have lacked funding due to severe budget cuts.

Everyone in our NW Honda Dealers family is committed to supporting local schools, families, and to building bridges in our local community.  That's why throughout the 2017-2018 school year, the Northwest Honda Dealers Association (NWHDA) will be giving away $1,000 a month to a local school of their choice.  This could not come at a better time when schools need supplies, program support, and equipment more than ever!

Fort Vancouver High School is the last of 11 schools to be recognized by the NW Honda Dealers.  The school's vision is to graduate students who are globally aware and engaged citizens.  Towards that end, Fort Vancouver High School officially became the Center for International Studies in 2016.  And that certainly fits with the school's motto of "Diversity. Unity. Community."

Mike Phillips, general sales manager of Dick Hannah Honda, will be presenting the $1,000 check to Principal Jody ViDelco on Thursday, June 7 at 11:30 a.m. in the school gym.

"We are so honored with this award," said ViDelco. "Our school teachers and staff members seek to empower our students to become lifelong learners who actively and positively contribute both their local community and our world at large.  We will use this contribution toward further resources as we reach out to even more of our students!"  That's important since approximately 73% of Fort Vancouver High School's students are considered economically disadvantaged.

"We at Dick Hannah are committed to supporting local families, education and the environment.  Over the years, we've learned it's better to be nice, do good and tell the truth," said Phillips.  "At Fort Vancouver High School, teachers motivate students to work to the best of their ability and strive for excellence.  Students are also encouraged to act courteously and responsibly, as well as to treat others as they wish to be treated.  And this is exactly the way we believe in treating our customers!"

The NWHDA is committed to ensuring that local schools become stronger, as exhibited with their continued support of the "Rootopia: Farm to School Program," which serves local, farm-fresh food on the school lunch lines.
