June 5, 2018 - PRLog -- A new substance abuse treatment center is starting soon in Hopewell Township, in Beaver County, Pennsylvania.

Resource for Human Department (RHD) is going to open a drug addiction treatment center that could be ready by September.

RHD, a Philadelphia based company, is a human services nonprofit that was established in 1970.

RHD was given $2.8 million in July last year to build a 39-bed substance abuse treatment center that will give detox services as well as inpatient treatment for both long-term and short-term.

In December 2017, Real Estate Development Associates, requested authorization from the township zoning board to operate a long-term care center.

In 2017, there were 82 drug-related overdoses in Beaver County, nine occurring in Hopewell Township, based on a report by Overdose Free PA. The report indicated that 60 of the deaths were from men.

Preliminary reports have highlighted that were 13 drug-related overdose deaths in 2018 in the county, none reported in Hopewell Township.

Not everyone is happy about the drug abuse treatment enter opening soon.

Marie Hartman, a Hopewell Township manager, indicated that while the developers did mention an extended-care facility, there was not a single mention of a drug addiction treatment center in the area.
