Connecting Humans at LinkedInLocal Swansea

SWANSEA, Wales - May 30, 2018 - PRLog -- The event had promised a more social approach to business networking and certainly delivered it with a lively atmosphere throughout. The informal vibe was supported with a huge paella cooked in the room and plenty of drinks. The event also seemed to succeed in its aim of attracting a diverse range of guests which kept the conversations flowing.

Event host and marketer Jon Curtis explained; "There is already a well-established networking circuit in Swansea so we decided to offer something a little bit different. We want to put the social back into business networking so that businesses of all sizes feel they can take part; from homeworkers to SME's, startups to national businesses, everyone is welcome at LinkedInLocal.

The event started with an introduction from event sponsor Bhupinder Sidhu, MD of Precision Financial, who talked about the value of face-to-face contact in a world where we carry out more and more transactions online. His comments that we are losing the skills of empathy, body language and verbal cues due to using our devices for even the most basic of conversations, provided food for thought.

Following this introduction 'Digital Maverick' Prab Chadha gave an insightful and highly motivational talk on using LinkedIn for business. With plenty of simple tips for getting more from your profile and increasing your online prominence there were several in the audience taking notes to use later.

With the formal part of the evening complete a chef appeared to cook an enormous paella and the audience broke into small groups to get to know each other and to discuss business in Swansea. The event officially closed at 7pm but it was 9pm before all of the LikedIners departed Old Havana.

As a first event it was certainly an enjoyable evening and we'll look forward to seeing what the organisers come up with next. LinkedInLocal started in Australia and has caught peoples' imaginations around the world. The idea is very simply to claim the social back from social media and to meet the real people behind the thumbnail. The events are a great way to meet with existing and new connections in an informal setting. There is a loose structure and a special guest speaker but mostly it's about connecting with other LinkedIn members and building relationships.
