By: Caribbean American Cultural Arts Foundation The welcome reception included digital integrations powered by Microsoft and delicious Caribbean refreshments provided by Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery. Everyone gathered to support a worthy cause, hurricane recovery efforts in the Caribbean and educational mentorship programs for deserving young people. "Last night was not only uplifting, it was a truly humbling experience. It solidified our common goal to help rebuild and enrich the lives of our brothers and sisters in the Caribbean," says Renee Knorr, Director of Production, CACAF. Honoree, Yvette Thomas-Henry, General Manager of the Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta, echoed the sentiment of the evening, she told the audience that this is a moment to break ceilings and help those who need support. Knorr said, "Our welcome reception just energized us even more to do the work necessary to make next month an amazing affair. We look forward to an electrifying evening on June 23rd." The Captains of Industry gala will feature a carnival-style welcome that will include stilt performers, steel drummers and all the pageantry and delicacies of the Caribbean. Reggae Star, Pressure and Soca & Reggae Performer, Styleon Garvey will provide live performances. The evening will be hosted by Majic 107.5 Radio Personality, Chubb Rock. Since then, the foundation has supported programs that feed hurricane evacuees, provides resources toward recovery and has gathered strategic support before disaster strikes. The fund supports educational mentorship programs for young people seeking higher education and projects that promote workforce and skills development. In addition, the foundation focuses on the study, advancement and presentation of Caribbean arts, culture and humanities.
