New Toastmasters leaders elected as 2018-2019 District 38 Trio

PHILADELPHIA - May 26, 2018 - PRLog -- David Shlegle, DTM, a member of Washington Crossing Toastmasters in Langhorne, PA, was elected as the District Director-elect during the District 38 (http://www.tmdistrict38.org) Council Meeting on Saturday May 19, 2018. The annual elections were held during the two-day spring conference in Cherry Hill, NJ.

The Toastmasters District Leadership manual describes the district director as "responsible for directly administering and overseeing the district's day-to-day operations, finances and human resources." Shlegle will lead the District Executive Committee that consists of various administration leaders as well as over 60 area directors and 8 division directors. "The district director supervises and guides all elected and appointed district leaders and is responsible for their success."

In response to, "Why do you want to be a district officer?" Shlegle wrote, "For years I have considered myself very fortunate with my family, my career and community activities. My friends call it "dumb luck", but as the famous philosopher, Seneca, said "Luck is what happens when preparedness meets opportunity".  This Toastmasters year, I plan on focusing on preparing our members and leaders to meet the challenges that they will face in life. My goal is to prepare them to Be Ready for Anything."  He is now in the process of appointing the administrative leaders and area directors.

The District 38 Council elected other leaders for the 2018 – 2019 Toastmasters year, beginning on July 1. Shlegle, as District Director, is joined by Basha McCrumb, DTM as Program Quality Director and Joshua Smith, DTM as Club Growth Director to form the District Trio, the three highest positions in the district leadership. The Trio will participate in District Leader Training, Mid-year Training and online training via the District Leader Tutorials on the Toastmasters International website.

Additionally the District Council elected the 8 Division Directors, listed on the District 38 website.
