City of Center Line Celebrates 82 Years of Independence with Annual FestivalThe City of Center Line is celebrating its 82nd Anniversary by way of its 3rd Annual Center Line Independence Festival (CLIF) hosted by the Center Line Festival Foundation and the City of Center Line.
By: Elite Ink "We will have a lot of great things going on at this event, to include a carnival, softball tournament, pony rides, and free concerts Thursday through Saturday," said Center Line City Manager Dennis Champine. According to the CLIF schedule of activities, and each day has a theme that promoters and sponsors are hoping attendees will participate in, by dressing according to the themes. "We will have three themed days, including AEW High School Reunion on June 7th; Sodecia USA Flashback Friday on June 8th, and FCA Saddle Up Saturday, which each highlight different genres of live music," Mayor Robert Binson said. "We also will have the Center Line Lions Club Pancake Breakfast on Saturday morning for only $6.00 per person." Attendees will enjoy oldies from the Jibs Brown Trio on Thursday evening; Eastside Drive, American Band & the very popular Mega 80s band on Friday; and Bob & Carl Duo, Cadillac Cowboys, and Traverse City's own Drew Hale on Saturday; all on the C&G Publishing Stage. "We have a great line-up of local bands this year, and we know that the public will really enjoy them, as well as the other entertainment lined up for all to enjoy," Champine said. On Saturday evening the City of Center Line celebrates its independence with its always popular Christian Financial Credit Union Fireworks, hosted by Zambelli Fireworks (come early for the best viewing). According to organizers, this year's event not only include live free music, and carnival, but will also feature seven different food vendors; a beer tent sponsored by Knight of Columbus in partnership with Petipren; adult trike bikes; petting zoo; pony rides; arts and crafts; Cirque Amounus with "Little Big Shots" star Nathan Abraham; Ghostbusters Detroit; Jedi Training; Square Dancers; a Softball Tournament; and Husband/Wife Calling Contests. "There is also a replica of a 1934 motorize bicycle, valued at $2,500.00 that is being raffled off on Saturday."
