MyTVS, the multi-brand car servicing chain of TVS Automobile Solutions, could offer you a solution. The company has come out with what it calls a disruptive initiative to provide an alternative to car manufacturers' mobile services.
It will shortly roll out Service@Home, a comprehensive car service at customers' sites — be it home or office. It offers services beyond the usual "regular check-ups" and small repairs, according to MyTVS.
So, when MyTVS technicians visit a customer's site based on a call registered on its app or call centre, they not only attend to the registered complaints, but also provide a complete health record of the car, free of cost.
Using the Car Talk application under the new offering, over 500 types of service repairs that occur frequently can be attended to at a customer's site. The application will also provide information on the potential issues that the car could develop in the following days.
Under the 'Parts on demand' scheme, technicians can place orders on their mobile phones. The parts will be delivered at the customer's site within an hour, and the service will be completed within two hours.
MyTVS has married four emerging technologies to bring out Service@Home — mobile technology, IoT (internet of things), telematics and big data.
"There is a possibility of 8,400 potential errors in a car and we have developed an IoT platform to offer solutions to those errors — this is our IP, developed using our knowledge and experience in this business over the years," said G Srinivasa Raghavan, Executive Director, TVS Automobile Solutions.
MyTVS will roll out Service@Home, which will be available between 6 am and 9 pm, on November 1. It will operate 20 service vehicles in Chennai to begin with and will subsequently launch the service in Bengaluru. It is looking at a pan-India roll-out next year.
"With about 20 vehicles, we can provide service for 60-100cars a day," said Srinivasa Raghavan.
The company has invested heavily in tools and equipment to match those of authorised dealers of carmakers, and its labour costs will be 15 per cent cheaper than the rest, he added.
He also said MyTVS has been running a beta for the past 45 days and was able to address 75 per cent of the issues at the site. Only 25 per cent had to be escalated to its workshops.
MyTVS has a network of 200 plus outlets across six States now. It is planning to expand the outlets to 250 by March 2018, 500-600 outlets in the following year and to 1,000 by 2020. Only 10-15 per cent of this will be its own centres. The rest will be franchises.
