BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - May 21, 2018 - PRLog -- Corinthian Travel has created a unique 'high altitude adventure' for families entitled Ladakh Family Holiday with Teenagers (https://www.corinthiantravel.co.uk/destination/ladakh-holidays/ladakh-family-holiday-teenagers/price).

The carefully crafted itinerary will take you off the beaten track up into the mighty Himalaya range where you'll discover the amazing sights and lore of the 'Desert in the Sky'.

Perfect during the school summer holidays, the private tour is packed with different experiences and combines visits the two distinct areas of Ladakh; a remote and almost mythical former Himalayan kingdom complete with Tibetan-style monasteries, atmospheric crumbling villages, high mountain peaks, luxuriant meadows, rushing rivers, and thousands of chanting monks.

After a thrilling scenic flight from Delhi there will be nine full days to immerse yourself in this ancient land where you will hike along the old Silk Road, raft down the mighty Indus River, ride a yak across the famed Wari-La Pass and cycle through the serene Nubra Valley – a high altitude cold desert with rare precipitation and scant vegetation except along river beds.

The villages are irrigated and fertile, producing wheat, barley, peas, mustard and a variety of fruits and nuts, including blood apples, walnuts, apricots and even a few almond trees.

Most of the Nubra Valley is inhabited by Nubra Skat speakers, the majority of which are Buddhists, and it will be possible to attend early morning prayers in a medieval monastery whilst in the valley (which averages a height of over 3000m above sea level).

The itinerary also includes archery contests, a journey across the dunes of Hunder on a Bactrian camel, and the chance to learn about the Spirit World from the most famous Oracle in Leh!

Weather permitting, you may also glimpse the snowy peak of K2 – which at 8,611m above sea level, is the second highest mountain in the world after Mount Everest.

The holiday costs from £1695 pp (based on four travelling and two rooms), which includes private chauffeur-driven transport throughout, 11 nights' B&B (plus nine lunches and dinners), activities and sightseeing as per the itinerary, domestic flights between Delhi and Leh, and a guide.  International flights extra (bookable through Corinthian Travel).
