By: Attivo Networks On Tuesday, in a session titled Threat Intelligence, Counterintelligence, and Hack Back; The Active Cyber Defense Bill and Balanced Active Defense, Attivo Networks Chief Deception Officer, Carolyn Crandall, and FBI Cyber Crime Supervisory Special Agent, Jason Manar, will explore deception technology's role for an active defense and the potential impact of proposed changes to cybersecurity legislation. The session will discuss the current Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), cyberdefense challenges, and the potential impact of the Active Cyber Defense Certainty Act or other similar bills. The measure, also known as ACDC, proposes amendments to the CFAA, giving victims of persistent cyberattacks the option to hack back as an active defense cyber measure. The discussion will include alternative options to hacking back, how to work with the FBI during a breach, and how innovative technologies like threat deception are being used to gather threat, adversary, and counterintelligence for reducing attacker dwell time and creating an Active Defense.
