TAF Approves New ASA Going Concern Appraising for Real Estate Appraisers Course

RESTON, Va. - May 17, 2018 - PRLog -- The American Society of Appraisers has received approval from The Appraisal Foundation for its new RP-400 Going Concern Appraising for Real Estate Appraisers, Case Studies course. Plans are underway to obtain State approvals and schedule upcoming classes at various locations.

Members currently holding the ASA-Real Property designation will now be able to add an Appraisal Specialty in Going Concern. To obtain this Appraisal Specialty members will need to successfully complete the two three-day courses, RP-400 Going Concern Appraising for Real Estate Appraisers, Case Studies and RP-401 Allocating Components in Going Concern Appraisals. In addition, they will need to submit a going concern work product for review.

Real Property Discipline Chair, Paul D. Roberts, ASA (http://www.appraisers.org/memberbio?MemberID=4173), in a message to members explained the importance on why most real estate commercial appraisers should take these courses saying, "With today's complex real estate (gas stations with car washes and convenience stores, nursing homes, golf courses, and hotel/motels) if would behoove most real estate commercial appraisers to take one or both of these courses. Even if you do not want to pursue the Appraisal Specialty the knowledge obtained from these courses would be quite beneficial. No other society is offering this, so ASA will stand alone as the sole expert in going concern real estate valuation."

Roberts invited members or other interested professionals to contact him directly with any questions or comments at paulr@iacinc.com or (201) 934-4573.
