No Better Place to Call Home Than The Mews at Edison Lofts for Area Resident Alexander Howze
First Residences in Phase I of Redevelopment at Historic Edison Factory Offer New Area Lifestyle
"It's exciting to be at the forefront as other residents begin to move in, and stores and restaurants plan their openings," said Howze, who originally relocated to West Orange with his family in 1995. "I graduated from West Orange High School, and my mom still lives in town. I have a wonderful history here and am thrilled to be living at The Mews." The community features a collection of 34 one- and two-bedroom newly constructed homes ready for immediate occupancy.
The largest non-waterfront adaptive-reuse project in New Jersey, Edison Village encompasses 21 acres on Main Street in the heart of West Orange Township's Downtown Redevelopment area. Phase I includes The Mews and The Residences at Edison Lofts, the renovation and reconstruction of the 100-year-old factory complex. Development of 334 rental units, 18,400 square feet of retail with a supporting 630-space parking structure are all in progress.
The Edison Village retail component, on the corner of Charles Street and along Main Street, will provide Howze, fellow residents and the public with a new in-town shopping and dining experience, The Shoppes at Edison Village. The Shoppes will feature restaurants and café-style concepts and include an interior plaza with a cascading fountain open to the public during the day.
Spacious Layout and Abundant Amenities a Key Feature for Howze
Prior to moving to The Mews, Howze, who has worked as a human resources professional at Seton Hall University in South Orange for 13 years, lived in an apartment in Bloomfield for a short time. "I outgrew the tight space quickly," he said. "When I saw the size and layout of the one-bedroom units at The Mews, I fell in love."
The residences range from 796 to 1,336 square feet and are situated above ground-floor retail space. In addition, homes at The Mews boast designer kitchens with solid stone countertops and backsplashes, stainless steel appliances and wood detailing throughout. Monthly rents for the market-rate residences start at $2,100.
Residents of The Mews and The Residences at Edison Lofts will have access to abundant amenities, including a private fitness center with sauna, indoor swimming pool, personal and bike storage, a media/screening room, business center, private dining room, storage components, doorman and concierge service. The property also features a rooftop indoor/outdoor lounge with sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline, park-like green spaces and landscaped grounds, covered parking and even a dog washing station. Shuttle service will be available to and from the Orange Train Station for commuting to Manhattan.
The Mews on-site leasing center is located at 161 Main Street in West Orange and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. No appointments are necessary. For more information, contact the leasing center at (973) 996-1166 or Leasing@EdisonLofts.com and visit www.EdisonLofts.com.
The Residences at Edison Lofts Also Nearing Completion
Originally built in 1913 by Thomas Edison, the factory complex on the site of Edison Village served as a manufacturing operation until 1965. The newly refurbished Edison National Historic Site and museum is located adjacent to the property, bounded by the historic Llewellyn Park, one of New Jersey's premier gated communities.
This spring, Prism will finish The Residences at Edison Lofts, the adaptation of the 1913 original building into 300 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom market-rate residences, ranging from 590 to 1,500 square feet, and 20 penthouse duplex residences.
"Edison Village is a project of incredible quality – one that celebrates the rich history of the area while serving to anchor the future of this community," said Prism's Edwin Cohen, principal partner. Prism Capital Partners is an experienced real estate owner/operator with a proven track record of creating value through select real estate investments and developments. "We are delighted to welcome our first residents, like Alexander, and know they will enjoy the unique living experience in Edison Village."
