West Georgia Technical College Hosting "Career Fair of the Future" for High School Seniors
Both the Murphy (Waco) & LaGrange campuses are welcoming students from six surrounding counties to introduce them to industry leaders based on their YouScience Profiles
In addition to sessions on admissions and financial aid, the agenda includes tracks from Georgia high demand industries including construction, manufacturing, healthcare, information technology.
Lunch is sponsored by the attending employers and will be provided to the high school seniors from Haralson, Carroll, and Douglas Counties attending the Murphy event, and those from Troup, Heard, Meriwether and Coweta Counties attending the LaGrange event. Any student who attends this open house and applies to either campus that day will have their application fee waived. To register for this even go to https://www.youscience.com/
"This event is an opportunity for students to discover their best-fit career paths before starting the college process," said Ben Chambers, WTGC Director of Public Relations and Communications. "The results of their YouScience Profile, coupled with this Future Fair, will save families time and money by putting the student in position to begin their secondary education with a clear direction on a continuing education and career path."
Unlike traditional self-reported, interest-based career tools, YouScience is the only system that employs decades of rigorous scientific research to measure students' aptitudes through a series of engaging 'brain games.' The YouScience patent-pending technology combines cutting-edge matching algorithms with the most reliable and comprehensive career data, providing each student with a highly-personalized online profile that highlights the intersection of their unique talents, passions and opportunities.
"Statistically, we know that 47% of graduating seniors in these areas will not be enrolled in post-secondary at this same time next year," said Philip Hardin, CEO of YouScience. "However, based on the YouScience results from more than 50,000 Georgia students, it's clear that these students have the talent to meet Georgia's high demand workforce needs."
The Georgia Department of Education and the Technical College System of Georgia partnered together to make YouScience available at no cost to every student attending public high school in the state of Georgia. A representative from the school, or its superintendent's office, simply needs to reach out to YouScience and request free access to the program.
