Lice Removal is an Interesting and Rewarding Business for Women
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - May 8, 2018 - PRLog -- Hundreds of home-based lice removal business are opening up every month. It's flexible & lucrative - ideal for busy moms. After treating over 25,000 people, since 2012 in her salon Picky Pam at the Beach, Pam Skinner shares her insights to have a successful business marketing strategy at very little cost.

1. YELP YELP YELP! Yelp is huge for us. There are 4 lice salons in our city, so it has become competitive! First, make sure to claim your YELP space. Add lots of photos, maps, hours, etc. For lice, people don't 'check in' because they don't want to be 'outted'. You are not allowed to directly ask for 5 star YELPS (and NEVER EVER offer a discount or incentive in exchange for a YELP review!). What we do is send a follow-up text that says "It was wonderful meeting your sweet family. If you get a chance, check us out on YELP, here's the link (insert link)". This is our biggest source of referrals. There is an option, down the road, to pay YELP for more exposure. (Note: paying YELP increases your visibility, it has NOTHING to do with filtering good or bad YELPS!). After a year or two, we decided to pay $400/month. We had such a great response (we know through the analytics), that we are doubling our budget this summer to $800. Remember it only takes a several new customers per month to cover that. Another great thing is, once we have a new customer (very often a family), we will see them about once or twice a year, for years to come! Don't worry about a budget for YELP in the beginning. You will know when the time is right.

2. Get Connected With the DISTRICT School Nurse. School nurses typically meet once a month. Offer to do a 20 minute 'inservice' (workshop). Bring examples (laminated lice), studies, handouts, Lice ID cards. If you leave promotional material, make it EDUCATIONAL. If it looks like an ad, with your phone number, map, etc...very often the school won't accept it (they are not allowed to 'endorse' one business over another). Be a very helpful resource for the nurse. We give each nurse a bottle of our prevention spray to use on herself whenever she does a lice check. The bottle has our website and phone number on it  for easy reference.

3. Work with PTA Presidents. Find out if your district has a 'coordinating council' of PTA presidents who meet once a month. Ours has 25 elementary and middle school presidents. I get invited about every other year to speak. I always bring a cute 'gift bag' with a bottle of prevention spray, some Lice ID Cards (take a peek at our website: LiceFreeKids.com), some brochures, and a hand written note to each President. Out of 25, I usually get invited to speak to about 5 schools (at their school PTA meeting), but all 25 give out our Lice ID cards. They are very informative, also tell the 5 Biggest Myths, but they DON'T have our phone number or address....just the website. That one detail is very important in order to get 'approved' by the school, or the district. Find out who does the 'Fall Packets' for all returniing students. Most now are done electronically. Regardless, see if you can submit a version of the "Lice ID Card" into every packet. Last  suggestion - sometimes it is very inexpensive ($25-$50) to have a business card size ad in the school directory. Those are great for lice businesses because parents hang on to those for YEARS!
