United Premier Soccer League Announces New Texas Expansion Club HP Drifters FC
Amarillo (Tex.)-Based Pro Development Club Joins the UPSL for 2019 Season

Based in Amarillo (Tex.), HP Drifters FC will begin UPSL play in the Central Conference North Division.
United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "Like the oil fields a century ago, Texas is exploding with UPSL expansion opportunities. High Plains Drifters FC has more than 20 years in the community, and with that sort of foundation the club is sure to be a long-term success. We wish HP Drifters FC success as it prepares to kick off next year."
Butch Lauffer is the Director of Coaching for High Plains Drifters Youth Soccer Club, an all-ages youth club and academy based in Amarillo (Tex.). Founded in 1994, High Plains Drifters SC offers travel and academy teams more than 200 local players and ranks among most successful clubs in the region.
Lauffer, 56, is a life-long Texas resident and is in his 28th season as Men's Soccer Head Coach at West Texas A&M University (NCAA Division 2). He has spent 20-plus years at High Plains Drifters SC as a coach and director.
High Plains Drifters SC Director of Coaching Butch Lauffer said, "We're proud to be joining the UPSL's Central Conference. It's going to be a great competition so we're going to take the full year, continue to work on our plan and do things the right way. We have candidates for our General Manager position and will soon do a regional search for the coaching staff."
High Plains Drifters Soccer Club is operated by a board of directors and is currently led by President Brad Williamson. Current and past board members Kurt Lester, Bobby Carlton, Robert Laminack, Bubba Newman, and Bryan Chaffin have all played major roles as the club adopts a Men's Pro Development program in order to take 'Panhandle Soccer' to the next level.
"We are looking forward to our partnership as the UPSL establishes an outstanding soccer league with a goal of promoting high-quality soccer in the Texas panhandle," Lauffer said.
HP Drifters FC currently is hiring front office and coaching staff positions, and will host its home games at a site to be announced in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards.

HP Drifters FC is an American Soccer club currently based in Amarillo, Tex., and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. HP Drifters FC plays in the UPSL Pro Premier.
Founded in 2018, HP Drifters FC can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 170 teams in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 200-plus teams targeted for 2018 Spring Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.
UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
