Mayor Boughton Awards Citation to Danbury Civil Air Patrol
399th Composite Squadron cited by Danbury, Conn. Mayor Boughton for Outstanding Volunteerism
The squadron, commanded by Captain Jeff Jenkins, assisted Danbury Fire Department with water distribution to residents after a severe water main break occurred on April 23, leaving a third of the City without water.
Colonel James Ridley, Connecticut Wing Commander, was extremely pleased with the unit's alertness. "I am very proud of the cadets and seniors of the 399th" Ridley said, adding "The Mayor of Danbury, the fire chief and other prominent local figures have expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the unit's efforts and I am very pleased with the turnout and professionalism they and other units within the Connecticut Wing constantly display in times like these."

Civil Air Patrol, the longtime all-volunteer U.S. Air Force auxiliary, is the newest member of the Air Force's Total Force. In this role, CAP operates a fleet of 560 aircraft, performs about 90 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and is credited by the AFRCC with saving an average of 80 lives annually.
