LANSING, Mich. - May 3, 2018 - PRLog -- Over 300,000 students across Michigan participated at 10:00 a.m., May 2, for the 20th Annual ACES Day. The events took place all over the state at local schools, with many schools uniting at The Dow, Midland, University of Michigan Stadium, and Michigan State University Spartan Stadium. Founded in 1989 by New Jersey physical education teacher Len Saunders, ACES is short for All Children Exercise Simultaneously. The Michigan event was made possible through the generosity of neighborhood Farm Bureau Insurance Agents, who work hard to be champions of health and wellness in their communities across Michigan.

Fun Facts

• In 1989, ACES stood for "American Children Exercising Simultaneously" because Len never imagined schools outside the United States would participate. Today, it is called "All Children Exercise Simultaneously" as it has become a worldwide phenomenon.

• ACES Day is generally observed on the first Wednesday in May. This year, ACES Day was held on May 2, and at 10:00 a.m., all participating students exercised simultaneously as a worldwide gesture of unity in fitness.

• The Michigan Fitness Foundation has partnered with Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan in promoting ACES Day for the past 20 years. Together the organizations have taken the lead in encouraging Michigan schools to participate as a way to educate children to get excited about physical activity.
