Follow on Google News | Initial States & Races for UCR Polling Project AnnouncedUCR's digital polls are more in touch with the public than the outdated traditional surveys.
By: UnCut Report Beginning this week, UCR will conduct polls related to the upcoming midterms and state/local races. Because this is an ongoing project, we are going to commence with western states and expand thereafter. Our research team collected thorough data on voter demographics in the states of California and Washington. They are currently studying those in Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona. All of the states mentioned, except for one, has an upcoming gubernatorial election. Alongside state-wide U.S. Senate races, both elections will be as impactful nationally as they are locally and regionally. California & Open vs. Closed Primaries In the Golden State, the current Democratic Governor Jerry Brown is stepping down due to term limits. There is a large number of candidates running to replace him. Because of this, the upcoming June primary elections are just as crucial as the general in November. In turn, UCR will conduct at least one poll amongst overall Californians. On a more frequent level, we will survey registered voters amongst individual parties regarding who their preferred candidate is. Under California's primary system, all the Democrat, Republican, and third party/Independent candidates run in one open race. Voters can only pick one candidate and the top two advance to a one-on-one general election. Many people criticize this because it gives the Democratic party a monopolistic advantage. In many state-wide races, the top two candidates are from the same party. This is unlike a closed primary where Republicans, Democrats, and third parties have their own separate elections. (Note: Libertarian and Independent candidates recently won state-wide and local offices in many states. More updates related to polling to come). In closed primaries, each party competes in the general vote. UCR will use this to analyze the different aspects of closed and open primaries. The results will be the groundwork to look at voter attitude and analyze changes after June's result. Just as importantly, we will conduct surveys during the general election. Pacific Northwest Washington is the only state in the far west that will not have a governor's election. However, there is going to be a U.S. Senate race and public approval of Governor Jay Inslee's job performance is crucial. The Democrat will potentially run for U.S. President in 2020. Some U.S. House and state/local races in the Evergreen State are also important to look at. However, we are still in the process of collecting more detailed voter data. Currently, UCR's research team is studying Idaho and Oregon. We are specifically going to survey the public in regards to the upcoming gubernatorial elections in both states. May 2-10: Polling to Commence for Select Races UnCut Report will conduct public polls for the following races and topical opinions: • California: Democratic party's approval rating – Overall Eligible Voters • Idaho: Gubernatorial primary (Democratic & Republican) – Registered Voters for Each Party • Washington: Approval rating of Governor Jay Inslee's job performance – Overall Eligible Voters For further inquires, send an email to press@ucrep.com.
