Pegram Substance Abuse Treatment Center To Focus on Teens

PEGRAM, Tenn. - May 2, 2018 - PRLog -- A substance abuse treatment center in Pegram, Tennessee will soon have another program specifically targeted towards youths.

Cumberland Heights, a not for profit drug abuse treatment organization, will debut a new substance abuse treatment center that will center on adolescent boys ranging from ages 14 to 18. This will be Cumberland Heights second facility and will be extremely different than the original drug treatment center in Nashville, which has services for both adults and teens.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place last week to celebrate the start of the construction of the first drug abuse treatment center located in Pegram, according to the 2017 National Directory of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Treatment Facilities.

There were 15 drug-related overdose deaths in Cheatham County in 2016, according to the Tennessee Department of Health.
Of those 15 drug-related deaths, 13 were attributed to opioids.

The drug abuse treatment center in Pegram is approximately 67-acres and will be called the Academy Recovery of Cumberland (ARCH). The estimated cost of the structure is going to be $8.1 million to cover all the costs associated with property, construction, restoration and other expenses.

Cumberland Heights was started in 1966 by Robert Crichton Sr. and Thomas F. Frist Sr. as a center for men who did not have anywhere to go and were attempting to rediscover the meaning of their lives. It was the first recovery center in the Southeast at the time.

A press release from Cumberland Heights indicated that there will be activities for kids that include hiking, biking, pottery and fishing.

The release also stated that Cumberland Heights expects to help 84 youths within the first year of activity.
