The Thing with Margot Wins Gold Hermes Award

JONESBORO, Ark. - April 26, 2018 - PRLog -- Winners of the 2018 Hermes Creative Awards have been announced and The Thing With Margot, a novel by Timothy Best, was awarded a Gold Award in the category of "Outstanding Book." The Hermes Creative Awards, based in Dallas, TX, is a national and international competition that recognizes exceptional work in the communications industry for those who conceive, write, and design in traditional and emerging media.

This year there were over 6,000 entries from throughout the United States and dozens of countries. Entries are made by corporations, advertising & marketing companies, PR firms, individuals, and film and video production companies. The awards are divided into three categories: Platinum, Gold, and Certificates of Merit. On average, about 15% of the entries are recognized with an award distinction. Awards were given in various categories ranging from websites, to videos, to publications.

This is the fourth time that a book by Timothy Best and his publisher, TouchPoint Press, based in Arkansas, have been recognized with a national and international distinction. Best's first novel for TouchPoint Press, Substitute Angel, was awarded a Platinum Award in the category of "E-Book Cover Design" at the 2013 MarCom Awards. His next novel, The Intended Ones, also won a Platinum Award for "Paperback Book Cover Design" at the 2014 MarCom Awards. His next novel, The Intended Ones, won a  Gold Award in the category of "Outstanding Book" at the 2016 MarCom Awards. This is Best's first honor at the Hermes Awards. He joins a distinctive list of brand names that were also recipients of awards in this year's competition including Allstate Insurance, UPS, Hilton, and Harvard University.

"Although the MarCom and Hermes Awards are administered by the same organization, the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, each competition covers different categories and attracts different contestants," the author said. "I've heard that the Hermes Awards are more prestigious than the MarComs. I've also heard the MarCom Awards are more prestigious than the Hermes. Either way, I'm humbled and grateful to have been recognized by both shows."
