If you enjoy Game of Thrones, then you'll love game of rhytonsSirens, dragons, treasures and epic battles – the Golden Fleece has it all …
By: Thrace Foundation The exhibition is called 'The Golden Fleece. The Quest of the Argonauts' and will be on show until 10th of June 2018. This exhibition displays various aspects of religion and ritual practices of the Thracians; 16 of the objects are displayed for the first time. Some of the unseen treasures include a few types of silver kantharos, silver rhytons and a silver kylix. The centerpiece of the exhibition is a silver kantharos which depicts the golden ram's sacrifice that transferred Helle and Phrixus to Colchis. With everything the Golden Fleece represents - fertility, kingship, sacrifice- anybody who knows a lot or a little about Greek mythology can't help but get lost in the rich story and intriguing history of the myth itself, let alone the amazing treasures that come along with it. The sacrificial representation of the myth is placed in the centre of this display of timeless artefacts, which exemplifies the extent to which ancient mythology has affected people's cultures and perception of the world even nowadays. Admiring the exquisite ancient rhytons is an experience equally if not more entertaining and thrilling compared to watching the popular fantasy drama Game of Thrones. Although the story in the movie takes place in a fictional world, a lot of the episodes have been inspired by mythological creatures and real legends. The exhibition is a rare chance for mythology lovers, history fans and simply dreamers to jump into a world of glorious past, where feelings were displayed through magnificent objects and stories were told from generation to generation with the help of strikingly beautiful artifacts that luckily whisper the story of the ancient Aegean seas and magical Greek mountains even today.
